Gran Master Sandro Pozo
Teaching chess is more than just a job for me — it's a true joy. I love watching my students grow, improve their thinking skills, and fall in love with this beautiful game. Whether they're learning their first moves or preparing for high-level tournaments, I take pride in guiding them every step of the way.
I hold a degree in Physical Culture and Sports from the University of Havana “Manuel Fajardo”, which has provided me with a strong foundation in sports education and pedagogy. This academic background, combined with my chess experience, allows me to deliver high-quality, age-appropriate instruction to students of all levels.
I’m proud to be part of the Wajiro Chess Club, where we help young minds grow through chess — building not just players, but confident thinkers and lifelong learners.
My passion for chess and my love for working with children have come together to create outstanding results in the chess education industry. I strive to inspire each student to reach their full potential, both on and off the board.
International Master Maikel Gongora
Maikel is a International Master with a Grandmaster norm and a current FIDE rating of 2426. From a young age, I competed in hundreds of tournaments around the world, achieving promising results and gaining valuable international experience.
After years of competition, I transitioned into coaching, where I found my true calling — helping others grow through the game of chess. One of the proudest moments of my career was serving as a coach at a World Chess Championship, representing my students on the global stage.
Sandro is a Chess Grandmaster with over 10 years of experience teaching chess to students of all ages. Currently, I work as a full-time chess instructor at a regular school, where I combine my passion for the game with a deep commitment to education.
National expert Lia Sanchez
For years, I dedicated myself to competing in top-level chess tournaments, including youth events and first-category championships. These experiences shaped my deep understanding of the game and ignited a lifelong passion for chess.
After my competitive career, I discovered the joy of teaching and began working with children in schools, introducing them to the world of chess through engaging and structured lessons.
